Louis Edwards, CATC-III

Louis Edwards, CATC-III, is a dedicated behavioral health professional whose life and career exemplify the transformative power of recovery. Having overcome a difficult childhood, life on the streets, gang involvement, incarceration, and the devastating effects of substance use disorder, Louis has spent nearly fifteen years rebuilding his life with purpose, integrity, and a commitment to helping others do the same.

Determined to create a different future, Louis returned to school and earned an Associate of Science degree in Substance Use Disorder Counseling before completing his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at California State University, Fresno. He is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor III (CATC-III) and has devoted nearly a decade to the behavioral health field.

Louis began his career as an intern and, through hard work, perseverance, and exceptional leadership, advanced to the roles of Substance Use Counselor, Client Advocate, Director of Client Care, and now leads Bakersfield Recovery Center as the Program Director. His professional journey reflects the same resilience and determination that define his personal story. Today, he is recognized as a trusted leader who combines clinical knowledge with lived experience to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of addiction and recovery.

Known for his calm presence under pressure, Louis excels in high-stress situations where thoughtful leadership and sound judgment are essential. His ability to de-escalate conflict, build trust, and guide collaborative problem-solving has earned the respect of clients, colleagues, and executive leadership alike. Staff members routinely seek his insight, knowing his wisdom, steady demeanor, and compassionate perspective lead to practical, effective solutions.

Louis believes that recovery is possible for anyone willing to embrace change, regardless of their past. His work is driven by the conviction that every person deserves dignity, hope, and the opportunity to build a meaningful life. Through his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to service, Louis continues to inspire those around him while helping individuals discover that lasting recovery is not only possible—it is attainable.
